artist statement:
The Huntsmen's Ball - A fairy tale
"There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion." Sir Francis Bacon
The deer were tired of living in fear of the Huntsman's arrow. The mischievous bucks decided to play a trick on the Huntsmen. Dressing up in fancy costume and hosting a lavish ball, they invited the hunters from all the land to attend. Blinded by this lovely deception, the Huntsmen became drunk with the illusion of beauty and laid down their weapons. Upon waking the next morning, they found their bows and arrows were changed into willow branches and vines of ivy. The belles of the ball had vanished.
